Spring Break is here! Classes resume Tuesday, March 21.

Last week Bingo for Books was attended by 53 parents and 86 students. Thank you to each person who took time out of your evening to celebrate literacy! Here are some pictures from the event.

We had so much fun celebrating reading last week. Our students love it when teachers join in on the fun also. Throughout the day Mrs. Yates transformed just like the tree in the classic story "The Giving Tree" by Shel Siverstein. If you have not read this story as a family, you should. It has so many life lessons to share.

Joy Yates has been a member of the 4th grade team at Cannon Elementary for two years. The Elementary Christmas Program and the senior walk are her favorite school events. Her hobbies include playing slow pitch softball, reading, going to parks with my children, and sleeping.

Summer School dates for the Elsberry R-2 School District are set. Mark you calendars. Enrollment info will be released at a later date.

Evaluate Day is Friday, March 10. Please wear your favorite work out clothes to help us exercise our brains.

Thank you Mrs. Hudson for sharing what it looks like in a first grade room during drop everything and read time. DEAR time is also something you can do at home. Set a timer for 10 or 15 minutes and everybody, even the adults, drop everything and just sit and read until the timer goes off.

Mrs. Stimac's third graders have enjoyed a STEM challenge this week. STEM challenges incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math as well as communication, collaboaration, critical thinking, and creativity.
